Virtaperko (baroque cello) |
Jani Sunnarborg studied the modern bassoon in Finland at the Sibelius-Academy, 1996-99. After that, 1999-2002, he studied baroque and classical bassoons and dulcian at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague in the Netherlands with Donna Argell as his professor. Currently Jani is taking part in a programme of CESMD de Poitou-Charentes for métier de l'orchestre classique, thus studying in France with Marc Vallon until year 2004. Jani is a regular member of Finnish baroque orchestras 6th Floor Orchestra and Opus X and has performed all around the Western and Northern Europe with a large number of orchestras and ensembles, e.g. Anima Eterna, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Les Musiciens du Louvra, Musica ad Rhenum, Ensemble Baroque de Limoges, most mentionable of the chamber ensembles the Halcyon Quintet and Ensemble Ambrosius. With Ensemble Ambrosius Jani Sunnarborg also plays sometimes oboe da caccia, which has been his obscure free time amusement for past few years, as well as organ and harpsichord, which he has been studying for a long while as to "cultivate his bassoonist brain". |
